Physiotherapy vs Chiropractic A discussion my Physio SA Adelaide Physiotherapist

good I my name's David on one of the partner physios at my physio same a delight and I'm going to have the differences between seeing a physiotherapist versus a chiropractor so I'm obviously a physiotherapist so physios it's a third degree course it takes four years to go through and we learn a lot about the body how moves we learn about the nerves muscles and the spine and how they are

meant to interact and move and work together so we problem solve in a different way and what chiropractors do and approach things quite differently than most chiropractors so contractors they are degree course as well they study for many years they've got a different start theory to us say though their theories of subluxation so they believe that the spine Verteron the spine sub-blocks equals dysfunction of the nerves whichever the nerves come out from that level the

spine and then that can affect different parts of body in different ways so if it's the nerve to come out to go towards your stomach then it can give you got issues and the way if it's those is to manipulate the spine back so there's over 100 different types of chiropractic out there and they all have very different opinions and different ways of doing things so they do have some general techniques whether

you use the activator or a clicker gun right through the sort of heavy strong manipulation to really try and correct what they call their subluxation so as physio is again where we have lots of different training as well a lot of different techniques physios tend to pick up treatment techniques across the board from massage osteopathy so um osteopath sorry and will so you pick up sort of different cairo techniques and wider manipulate as well

so the thing i think be my biased view is as physios have a medical model so we're very good identifying if it's a medical problem and shuffling someone straight off to a specialist or a doctor to do with that and we're also have very good schools in rehabilitation so we can diagnose a problem quite accurately and set up a plan and part of that plan would might involve hands-on treatment like a car overdue

but then we would also set up with what how you can manage with your sport and with work and we're very skilled in giving the right exercise rehab so the target and exercises that help you get your body moving better and stronger do what you need to do it inside hopefully that's just a quick overview of what our physiotherapists does and what a chiropractor does and hope it wasn't too biased reviewing thank you
